Welcome students, parents, & community!
This is my first year teaching at Oak Ridge High School, but my sixth year as a history teacher. Originally born overseas in Scotland, I grew up in the foothills and graduated from Ponderosa High School. After graduation, I attended CSU Long Beach to study history and earn my teaching credential. I began my teaching career in Los Angeles as a 7th grade World History teacher, and continued my middle school teaching career in west Long Beach. Although I loved my time in Southern California, it was always my dream to come home, so my husband and I made the move back to Northern California in the summer of 2017. I then taught AP Government and US History at Inderkum High School in Natomas before stepping into the role of an instructional coach. Coaching other teachers was a phenomenal opportunity, but I missed working with students! This year, I am so excited to be back in the classroom teaching history, and I am even more excited to be doing it in the community I grew up in and now live in and love. In my free time, you can find me spending time with my husband and family, hosting a dinner with friends, drinking a cup of coffee with a good book in hand, or planning our next adventure - whether that's camping up in the mountains or exploring a new country & culture. It was always my dream to be a teacher. Although history is certainly a passion of mine, you - my students - are the reason I love to come to work each morning. It is my students who fire me up and motivate me to bring my best into the classroom every single day. My hope is that you feel seen and cared for every time you step into Room P-5, and that you walk away at the end of the year with a better sense of who you are and what you can uniquely contribute to the world. I am excited for this year and all that we will learn together! |
